Introduction

The Department of History at Mahatma Basweshwar College, Latur was established in June 1970 and the postgraduate programme was introduced during 1976–1977. The department aims to promote historical awareness, critical thinking, and research-oriented learning among students by studying the past in a scientific and objective manner.

The department focuses on the study of local, regional, national, and world history. It emphasizes the importance of historical sources, documentation, and research methodology, enabling students to understand socio-cultural developments and emerging trends in historical studies.
