Introduction

The Department of Philosophy at Mahatma Basweshwar College, Latur was established on 15 June 1972. The postgraduate programme began in August 1981, and the Research Centre was established in May 2006. The department aims to promote philosophical inquiry, critical thinking, and ethical awareness through systematic study of Indian and Western philosophical traditions.

The department emphasizes the practical relevance of philosophy in understanding human life, society, and contemporary global challenges. Through teaching, research, and extension activities, students are encouraged to develop logical reasoning, analytical writing, and reflective thinking to address personal and social issues.

Aims and Objectives

  • To create interest and awareness about philosophy among students.
  • To broaden academic horizons at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • To introduce contemporary and emerging philosophical trends.
